I learned a lot during my time in Mr.Skeel's Civic Duty And Community Awareness class. This class was a new requirement for Kalkaska High School seniors this year. We were required to get a total of 10 community service hours, 5 hours Mr. Skeels provided us opportunities during our class time, and 5 hours we had to do on our own outside of class hours. During my time volunteering, i learned a lot about teamwork, the importance of helping others, and that the smallest act can make a huge change. I did a lot of volunteer work at the assisted living center in Kalkaska, MI. and while i cannot talk about the resident that i spent time with because of the HIPAA Act, i can tell you that her stories changed me. She made me open my eyes and see a whole other side to things. She was so full of life and she had a lot of great insight. She taught me a lot about what life. This Civic Duty And Community Awareness course taught me a lot about getting out there and helping my community.
